Pitbull Party In East Troy
Pitbull brought his pal Lill Jon and the non-stop party to East Troy, Wisconsin and the Alpine Valley Amphitheater for his “I’m Back” tour. The Venue: Alpine Valley Amphitheater seats 7,500 people under the wooden roof but lawn seating can expand attendance to near 30,000. It is tucked comfortably in farm country making getting in and out challenging if not properly planned for.
The party started with thousands of fans pre-gaming with beverages of their choice and plenty of lawn games and overall fun. It felt more like a Green Bay Packers game with the tailgating than a concert which one hundred percent added to the energy of the afternoon and evening. It is a sprawling venue so you never feel cramped. One of the parts I loved was they had a merch stand outside of the gates so you could get your shirts before you even went into the venue. They also had them inside, but it was a nice touch to help with the flow of things. Our seats were tremendous! We felt like we were right on stage even though we were in row RR in section 201 so we were a ways back but it didn’t feel like it.
We both commented on how we had never been to a show where so many people just danced and partied from the start to finish including the DJ’s that were pumping us up. The vibe was tremendous, the show was even better. Concessions were easy to get to and the drinks and food were better than average. It’s a concert, so you aren’t going to get a five star meal. The drinks were solid however and we scored Pitbull glasses in the process.
The Show:
I have given up ranking our concerts. They all are so vastly different and bring their own unique things. What I will say is that there isn’t an artist that brings the energy that Pitbull does from start to finish. He is electric and this show didn’t disappoint. We didn’t know what to expect with Lil Jon going in. I’ll 100% see him again as he was the perfect primer for Mr. Worldwide! He took us on a trip through the 2000’s and every dance jam known to mankind was played. In a word, he was electrifying! Plus, you never know you needed Lil Jon to cover Sweet Caroline.
Pitbull was as good as the first time I saw him at Red Rocks in 2022. He played all the hits and one of my favorite parts of the show was him talking about the schools that he has invested in. He talked about having a teacher that was one of the biggest influences in his life because she simply believed in him. Now he has invested back into tens of thousands of kids giving them opportunities that they wouldn’t have ever had. A one of a kind artist with a tremendous catalog of music that will leave you thinking “oh yeah, he had a hand in that too”. He played for about 90 minutes and in that time, it was non-stop energy with his dancers, band and DJ. Once the show was over, it was time for 30,000 people (some overserved) to hit the exits. If there was one complaint it was getting out of the venue. We struggled to find our car (that was more of an us problem) and there was no order to anyone leaving. Again, with that many people, it’s sort of baked into the cake but it would have been nice to have other options to exit instead of everyone funneling out of the same spot. That said, the venue was fantastic overall. The workers were courteous, the vibe tremendous and the night memorable!
