Long before he was pitching with a bloody lip after taking a ball off the bat of one Bo Jackson and even longer before he took Robin Ventura to the woodshed for charging the mound, Nolan Ryan owned batters. The all-time strike out king with 5,714 K's over his 27 year career will likely stand forever...okay I think its safe to say, it will never be touched.
Ryan and his cards are the perfect balance of availablity and liquidity. There's the obvious to scoop up for either the PC or to grab raw to grade and flip. That is what we are here to locate. Find those hidden gems to make a buck!
The three Ryan cards our crack research staff found are vintage, so if you aren't into vintage, you might want to exit the Ryan Express at this time. If you are down however for a little journey down memory lane, we hope you enjoy the ride.
Here we go!

First up is Ryan's 1975 Topps '74Highlights card #5. You can scoop this up for around $10 raw. Pop counts are low across the board but this card has sold raw a bunch on eBay in April. You've got a solid runway for profit with a PSA 7 as your break-even depending on how much you buy the card for.
Raw Price: $10 PSA 10 Comps: $607 PSA 9 Comps: $182 PSA 8 Comps: $106
PSA 7 Comps: $49.99

Low, low pops in 9's and 10's for the 77 Ryan but again, you've got a long runway and will still make money with 7's and 8's! You can grab this card raw on eBay for between $10 and $20. Here is the breakdown:
Raw Price: $10-$20
PSA 10 Comps: $16,565 (rare)
PSA 9 Comps: $2,090
PSA 8 Comps: $300
PSA 7 Comps: $98

Finally we check out Ryan's '79 Topps card. PSA 8's seem to rule the roost from a pop perspective. If you can nab this card for the average of $6 you'll make $40-$50 per card. Here is the tale of the tape: Raw Price: $6 PSA 10 Comps: $36,600 PSA 9 Comps: $627 PSA 8 Comps: $94 PSA 7 Comps: $49 So there you have it! Three Nolan Ryan plays that could land you on the plus side of the ledger. Thanks for riding the Ryan Express!
