The Legend of Buc-ee's

I would like to start this post by first apologizing and explaining. This is going to be one of those posts where my bias shows. We are not sponsored by Buc-ee's (we would love to be), but when I tell you that they own the greatest convenience stores in the US, let me explain exactly why. Before I do, I need to say I'm sorry to my step-daughter Lexie who was the first to boast to me about Buc'ee's. "I've been to Kwik Trip, Holiday, Circle K. I've seen them all", I told Lexie. I couldn't have been more wrong and I'm sorry. Tanya and I first entered the Smiths Grove, Kentucky location and my world changed. What felt like more than 100 gas pumps lined the outer limits of a huge footprint. Parking spots that went on for miles with many of them filled even at the late night hour we arrived. Then we walked in. To say I was overwhelmed would be an understatement.

For the most part, everything is Buc-ee's. A huge selection of shirts, pajama's, hoodies, pants and even a large selection of items for our four legged friends. They have t-shirts for every season. Christmas, 4th of July, New Year's, Thanksgiving. You'll find a shirt for every occasion. That's just the clothing. The food is where I was blown away.

The greatest sandwich I've ever had is the Triple from Buc-ee's.

Located smack dab in the middle of the store is a meat carving station. Pumping out thousands of sandwiches every day, they have fresh brisket, turkey and sausage. The bbq sauce is so good on the triple which is all three meats. It is the greatest sandwich I've ever had in my life and it's not close. They also offer a variety of fresh made burritos as well including the Texas Cheesesteak, Brisket, Beast and Chicken, These are located hot in the deli counter along with other hot food items.

Oh and don't forget to snag a bag or two of Beaver Nuggets and a cold soda from the fountain machine. The last thing I'll say about Buc-ee's is this. They boast the cleanest bathrooms in the country, That claim has been backed up and verified in an actual study done. I'll just say that in my 50+ years roaming this planet, I haven't come across any cleaner. Buc-ee's opened their first location in Lake Jackson, Texas. There are 68 others spread across Texas, Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia with planned locations coming in Arizona (2026), Arkansas (2026), Mississippi (2025), North Carolina (2026/2027), Ohio (2026) Georgia (2026), Virginia (2027) and Wisconsin (early 2027). So far, our Buc-ee's counter sits at 4. Our mission is to get to every location and we know we have our work cut out for us. As our adventures continue, Buc-ee's will be part of them.
