Gooseberry State Park

Gooseberry Falls

We began our Sunday with a trip to Gooseberry Falls. We navigated rain which helped keep this uber popular park's attendance lower than normal. That gave us the perfect opportunity to explore. The Falls are second to none spectacular and the view from upper, middle and lower falls are spectacular. It is truly one of those bucket list items that when you change your view becomes even more beautiful than the last. In addition to the falls, there is a short hike to the shores of Lake Superior.

Lake Superior

Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world by pure surface area. Several park patrons scour the shores daily in search of sea glass. We were moving fairly swiftly so we didn't do any sea glass hunting but maybe on our next trip. For the hikers, several trails await including the Hiking Club Trail along the Gitchi Gummi Trail loop which is 2.5 miles round trip. This was one of my favorite parks based on how close you can get to the falls and the scenic views.
