After finishing work for the night we headed home around 8:30 p.m. to rest before leaving for Minneapolis. Our park and ride reservation was set for 3:30 a,m. with our flight to Seattle set for 6:00 a.m. All of these times meant one thing. No sleep.
We loaded up and were on the road. We were so excited for this trip for many reasons. First, it marked Tanya's 50th state shes traveled to and second, it was both of our first Carnival Cruise. Being able to experience all the things together makes life so great.
We made it to park and ride in plenty of time and navigated to the airport for our flight to Seattle. We were tired, but ready for the adventures we were about to embark on.
Everything we watched video wise about cruises advised that we fly in the day before by giving yourself a little extra time and reduce stress. We were threading a needle without a ton of wiggle room. Our flight was scheduled to land in Seattle at 8:00 a.m. with a 45 minute ride to Pier 91 where the Carnival Lumonosa was waiting for us to board at noon and set sail later that afternoon. Any hiccup along the way would have been tough to make up.
Getting through the airport was pretty easy that early in the morning. In what felt like only minutes we were through security and ordering our breakfast. The first leg of our journey went slick. We boarded the plane and were off!

I have always been able to sleep on planes or anywhere for that matter. I have found that Tanya does not. Our plane had barely left the tarmac and I was out. I can't say that I slept great but I did catch a few z's. I had been up about 24 hours straight at that point. As it turned out, Tanya was shooting for close to twice as much. Our flight couldn't have gone any smoother. We blinked and we were touching down in the Puget Sound. I'd love to share details of the flight, but all I can say is that my eye lids don't have holes in them.
