Each Labor Day weekend, the unincorporated community of Rollag, Minnesota hosts the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion. WMSTR, as it has become known for has seen its population explode each year since 1940. With an average of 80,000 visitors yearly, it has become a destination event in the upper Midwest.
With an amazing "back in the day" vibe there is plenty to see for the whole family. There is also no shortage of good eats. Here are our "top things to eat" at WMSTR.

The caramel rolls at WMSTR are that of legend. The perfect way to start your day is at the Mercantile Building with the ooey, gooey, goodness! Pro tip- Get there early as they will run out!!! Wash your roll down with a pint of chocolate milk and you'll be ready to start your day.

At some point, you'll want to visit the Cook Car to get yourself a cup of egg coffee. Yup...egg coffee. It's like a regular cup of coffee but with an egg put into the grounds to tame the bitterness. It's worth the trek!

You'll want to support the local FFA at Hawley High School. That means one thing. A trip (or two) to the Shake Stand. You'll stand in line, but the variety of malts and shakes are worth the wait. Get the blueberry! The amount of blueberries when you reach the bottom of the cup is outstanding!

A good Fair can't happen without steamed corn on the cob. WMSTR has the freshest corn absolutely drenched in butter. There is nothing better than fresh corn on the cob while walking the grounds.

Okay, I know what you are going to say. It's a cheeseburger. You are 100% correct, but it tastes so much better with the vibe of Rollag and maybe little dirt and soot mixed in as you are walking around the grounds.

It's an acquired taste but this warm Norwegian porridge made with sour cream, milk, flour and butter is the perfect treat after a day on the hill.

If you play your cards right and make it to the show on the right day, you'll find the Swedish Meatball dinner. It is spectacular stick to your ribs food. The mashed potatoes are real and for the amount of food you are given, the $12 per plate price tag is well worth it!

Finally, grab The Triple! It's a pork chop sandwich with Bacon, Ham and cheese and it's delightful! They also have a single pork chop sandwich and The Double which has a Pork Chop, Bacon and Cheese. The Triple goes for $8 while you can get the double for $7.
There is plenty of food and beverages on the grounds and truthfully, something for everyone.
